LEXARTS’ GRANTS ELIGIBILITY AND FUNDING CRITERIA
General Operating Support I
Grant amounts are $25,000 or higher
GOS I is restricted to nonprofit, arts organizations that are professionally managed by a full-time administrative and artistic staff. The organization’s annual budget must exceed $250,000 for the past three consecutive years. The organization must receive Kentucky Arts Council support. Organizations must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and provide audited financial statements.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
  • nonprofit, 501(c)3 or 509a organization
  • Mission is arts-focused
  • Paid professional, full-time management
  • At least two consecutive years of prior GOS support
  • Based in Fayette County
  • Majority of work in Fayette and contiguous counties
  • Fiscally sound
  • Active participant in the annual Fund for the Arts Campaign
General Operating Support II
Grants range from $5,000 to $25,000
GOS II is restricted to nonprofit arts organizations that are professionally managed by paid full- or part-time staff. The organization’s expense budget must exceed $50,000 for the past three consecutive years. Organizations must apply for Kentucky Arts Council support, must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and provide audited financial statements or review by a CPA.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
  • nonprofit, 501(c)3 or 509a organization
  • Mission is arts-focused
  • Paid professional full- or part-time management.
  • Two consecutive years of Community Arts Development (CAD) Program Support with LexArts
  • Based in Fayette County
  • Majority of work in Fayette and contiguous counties
  • Fiscally sound
  • Active participant in the annual Fund for the Arts Campaign
NOTE: General Operating Support will not be awarded to the following:
  • An organization receiving 25 percent of its total revenue from any single source.
  • Government agencies, public school districts, colleges or universities.

Community Arts Development (CAD) Program Grants
Grants range from $2,500 to $10,000
CAD Program Grants are made to arts and cultural organizations that are professionally managed by a full- or part-time staff. Expense budget exceeds $25,000 for three consecutive years. The organization has a demonstrated history of providing community-focused programs. Organizations must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and provide audited financial statements or review by a CPA.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
  • nonprofit, 501(c)3 or 509a organization
  • Mission is arts focused
  • Paid professional full or part-time management
  • History of project support with LexArts
  • Based in Fayette County
  • Majority of work in Fayette and contiguous counties
  • Fiscally sound
CAD Project Grants
Grants range from: $500 - $2,500
CAD Project Grants are made to arts groups or other nonprofit organizations seeking to integrate the arts into their community programs. The organization has a demonstrated history of providing community-focused programs. Organizations must demonstrate fiscal responsibility and provide audited financial statements, review or compilation by a CPA, or board-approved financial statements.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
  • nonprofit, 501(c)3 or 509a organization
  • Based in Fayette County
  • Majority of work in Fayette and contiguous counties
  • Fiscally sound
Individual Artist Grants
Grants up to  $2,500
For Individual Artist Grants, please complete the Individual Artist Project Application.  If the artist is partnering with an organization, LexArts requires financial statements from the organization. The project must be initiated, directed and implemented by the artist.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
  • Artist lives in Fayette or contiguous counties
  • Clear community outreach/impact
  • Project budget appears reasonable and complete
Note: Community Arts Development grants will not be awarded for the following:
  • Benefits or organizational fund raising activities
  • Capital improvements
  • Debt reduction, penalties or litigation costs
  • Instructional programs designed only to benefit students enrolled in public or private school districts, colleges or universities
  • Organizations with delinquent final grant reports
  • Parties and/or receptions
  • Programs or projects not available to the general public
  • Re-granting activities
  • Trusts or endowment fund
KU LGE Arts in the Bluegrass Initiative
Grants range from: $500 - $1,000
KU LGE Arts in the Bluegrass Grants are made to arts groups or other nonprofit organizations seeking to integrate the arts into their community programs.
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
  • nonprofit, 501(c)3 or 509a organization
  • Based in one of the following counties:  Jessamine, Franklin, Gerrard, Bourbon, Clark, Madison, Woodford.
